Diode question

When installing the alltrax 500 I burnt up the larger of the 2 diodes I ordered a new one a while back. When I opened it yesterday I realized they sent me the smaller one so my question is will the larger one from the stock solenoid work in its place.

The device in the second picture is a resistor, not a diode.

I’d be careful on what your are putting between the two solenoid terminals, both small,and large terminals. If you aren’t careful, you can easily cause damage that cannot be undone and will be costly. It sounds like you already incorrectly installed something causing the original resistor to burn up. There are a lot of good resources here so make sure and don’t do anything unless you know it’s the right thing to do or you might make a 500 dollar Alltrax mistake or worse.

Is this an XCT or an SR?

And the large one on a stock controller was a pre-charge resistor. On an XCT it would have been a Regen Diode. Two totally different mechanisms.

Then the old one will not work as it is only a pre-charge resistor. You need a "Regen" diode which is a 6amp (6A6) 660v diode on the big posts with the striped or banded side on the post from the battery pack. (This is needed to protect the controller in a surge condition from the regenerative braking system)

I Can’t seem to find one i guess its not going back in. The only problem is i am worried about someone shutting the key off because they want me to stop like the little woman when she gets scared. Also the dog running around in there might bump the key while moving
