Using one side of a clothes pin, I created a go/no-go dip stick, for measuring water (acid) height. To make, insert pin to top of plates and mark pin at top of fill Port neck. This equals 0" of water above plate. Remove pin and measure down the pin the depth you want your water level when you fill, i.e. 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", whatever. Now remove a portion of pin from the bottom to the mark. This creates a stop for when you insert pin to measure. Using a light it's easy to see if the tip of the pin is touching the water. If not, add distilled water, and recheck. Enjoy.
