Default Issue with accelerator

I’m a new owner of a 93 marathon. I inherited from a relative. Overall it’s it good shape but I have an issue with the accelerator. When I push down the accelerator, it starts going and runs fine until I depress the accelerator more than halfway. When i press it more than halfway, the motor backs off and i coast. I back off the accelerator and press it down again to start moving. I’ve looked around on the internet for solutions and I stumbled on the accelerator limit switch. Does that sound like what could be the issue? If so, I’m not quite sure where that switch is on the 93 ezgo. Appreciate any help with this!!

Your cart has a "0 to 5kΩ pot-box" throttle system. The nominal value is 0Ω with pedal up and 5000Ω with pedal down.

If the Ohmic value exceeds about 7000Ω, the controller stops passing amps to the motor.

Remove the black wire and white wire from the push-on terminals o top of the controller and measure between the wires with an Ohmmeter. If it goes much above 5000Ω with pedal down, adjust the potentiometer.
