Curtis state of charge meter - blinking
I've seen two Curtis state meters where they were blinking on the very last (discharge side) of the meter, both would toggle between the last and the 2nd to last led. Each time both carts had zero problems verified with my meter. I reset them both by pulling power letting them set and plugged it back in. As far as I know one is still just fine but the other one has went back to the flashing. But again, no signs of issues with the cart operation or charging.
Is this a sign of meters that have gone bad or is there something else I am over looking? |

Re: Curtis state of charge meter - blinking
Found my answer...
Display 1. Only when the battery is properly charged is the right-most LED lit. 2. As the battery’s state-of-charge decreases, successive LEDs light up, only one on at a time. 3. The 2nd-from-left LED flashes, indicating “energy reserve” (70% depth of discharge). 4. The 2 left-most LEDs alternately flash, indicating “empty” (80% depth of discharge). Pulled this from the manual.... http://curtisinst.com/index.cfm?fuse...0REV%20E%2Epdf |

Re: Curtis state of charge meter - blinking
You need to completely charge and rest your batteries, then you reset the meter. It needs to have a reference point to start from. If you reset with partially charged batteries, the indications will be wrong.
Each bar indicates 8% of charge between 100% (10th bar) and 20% (1st bar). |

Re: Curtis state of charge meter - blinking
Thank you for this information.
My batteries had sat for a while, and after the first charge, the state of charge display was still on the low, blinking state. Posts above led me to break into the dash and check on things. I disconnected two of the wires (there were three, left the black wire on). Reconnected them after about 5 minutes. Turned the key and display now shows full charge. I would call that resetting it. Thanks for the help. I will be borrowing useful information and posting when I can from here in the future. |
