Wiring 12 volt accessories

Wired a 200W inverter with 12v hot and ground to the frame. All worked well until I accelerated- fried the inverter-blew accessory fuse. It's on a 48v club -high speed.???

Your first mistake was grounding it to the frame. never ground accessories on a electric car to the frame. You should work off of the main ground.

Thanks for the advice. Does the voltage spike when accelerating, if the frame is used as the ground ?

the voltage should drop a little when you are accelerating, the only time the voltage will spike is when a solenoid is deactivating or the motor is turned off instantly this is due to the magnetic feild collapsing. I would move to a good bat ground and double check your + connection as well. any poor connections will cause extra resistance in the line which will drop your voltage to the device and cause it to try and compensate for that voltage by pulling more current which will blow fuses and could let out the magic smoke.
