Re: disc brake upgrade
The ausco cable disc brakes (like ScottyB sells) are easily the best improvement for the money. "Juice" brakes could probably be even better. I have a Wheelsca setup that I have not tried yet (I want to try to make it a hybrid setup using it in the rear & Jake's setup in the front for a 4 wheel disc setup). Please don't ask "how does it work" or "is it done yet" (unless your name happens to be Lane), I have a job, 2 daily driver cars to keep running, child, and many other projects that are in front of that idea. I have not been impressed at all with the Jake's setup alone, because of how it "links up" with the factory brake pedal (too much wiggle/slop for any positive brake feel). Jake's kit = does it improve things some? , YES... Does it feel like "juice" brakes on a car? Not in the slightest bit... That's just my opinion. (as far as I know Wheelsca does not make any brake kits anymore, could be wrong).

Re: disc brake upgrade
Wheelsca is not out of business, They simply abandoned the golf cart brake end of their business. Their own fix for this problem was a split and pinch design. And for a while I sold this improved design. I also split and pinched stock hubs and sold those. This worked okay but, I was always conflicted over the pinch fix with the manufactures recommended 100 plus pound torque on the castle nut.
Do you torque, then pinch ? Anyway you do it they conflict each other during the install. We have been selling lots of the Ausco hardened hub kits and disc brake kits over the last 4-5 years. They results and reviews are good. There is an install thread in the stickies at the top of this section. |
