Re: Testing Pack, fried my Multimeter.
I got it now, it was a VOM not a digital. If you had it set on 200VDC you reversed the connection and cooked the movement.
Yes you need a digital meter to test batteries, cheapies are only $5 at Harbor Freight and won't blow up. Supposed better ones cost anywhere from $30-$150 but essentially all do the same thing. Here's the HF link: http://www.harborfreight.com/7-funct...ter-90899.html Good luck. |

Re: Testing Pack, fried my Multimeter.
Sounds to me like you had one of the probes plugged into the jack for current measurement. If so that would fry your meter as soon as you connect it to a battery.

Re: Testing Pack, fried my Multimeter.
There were only 3 ports Red, Black & a 10 amp. It was in the red and black ones as I've always used it lol.
Got a new MM today. 8v batteries read after charging for 6 hours: One battery is different, that is the way I got it. 8.50v Everstart 8.49v Everstart 8.48v Everstart 8.47v Everstart 8.51v Everstart 8.28v Trojan Pack was 51.31v 6ga in on the batteries, would 2ga help it any without changing anything? |

Re: Testing Pack, fried my Multimeter.
Let these batteries settle 6 -12 hours and re read them for a more true, less inflated (fresh off the charger) Reading
2g Cable is overkill for all but the most extreme golf carts running 500a and larger controllers...... |

Re: Testing Pack, fried my Multimeter.
Thanks, will re-read them tomorrow.
What about 4ga? Any noticeable differences with stock setup that is? Or should I just spend the money somewhere else? |

Re: Testing Pack, fried my Multimeter.
Upgrading to 4ga welding cable is a good upgrade for a stock cart..
