Re: jakes's 6in spindle lift
busman, I don't know much about these with this being my first cart, but I also plan on making a hunting cart out of mine. I have been told that with what I plan on doing (rougher terrain and hunting), the drop axle lift will be stronger. I've heard that the spindle lifts are good too, but that the axle lifts are not putting as much stress on them in the rougher terrain. I've heard of some spindle lifts snapping. It changed my mind, so I'm going to do the Jakes 6" axle lift. Other people will chime in im sure, it was just my opinion from what I was told.

Re: jakes's 6in spindle lift
What’s up busman9. I’m taking a break from my thread and saw yours. I’m positive that libertybellcdr did a GREAT write up on his cart and it has the Jake’s spindles. It was labeled “hunting cart restoration”. He’s a good guy and helping try to figure my problem out now.
If you have already bought the lift than disregard this. I chose the Allsport drop axle High 5” lift over the spindles for several reasons. 1) it is higher than the spindle lift and I wanted to run 25” tires. 2) to me, it just seems stronger, my 2 cents. 3) the Allsport drop axle has a large flat front axle. Larger than the stock. I wanted this extra axle space because I’m going to weld a 2” receiver on the front. I’m mainly doing this so I can mount my winch on it. Hope this helps |

Re: jakes's 6in spindle lift
Here’s a picture of the front of the lift. BTW, are you just putting a lift and tires on the cart? If so, you are going to be highly disappointed if you’re using it for hunting. The stock EZGO is not made for this and will crap out on you on the first incline you come to. I have to do some other upgrades to the system to get the power.

Re: jakes's 6in spindle lift
I did just the opposite, I had the Allsports lift and ditched because of the constant knocking in the spindles because of all the play. I use mine exclusively for hunting and the rattling drove me insane creeping through the woods. I switched to the Jake's lift and have been very happy with it, unless you plan on getting airborne in the cart I don't see how you could really break it. I started checking and most if not all the aftermarket hunting cart guys are using Jake's. The other thing I liked about the Jake's lift is it pushes the front tires forward, lengthening the wheelbase and making it ride a bit better.

Re: jakes's 6in spindle lift
Just finished the install, not to bad. Took a short test drive and liked the ride. Time will tell if I am going to have problems on hilly terrain as Superman51 talked about. Thanks for everyones comments.

Re: jakes's 6in spindle lift
Hope it treats you well busman . I’m having a world of problems with mine right now. Hopefully it will be situated soon. Just an idea bc a friend of mine put the same lift on. The dropped spindles push the front tires out to the side and front. This is good bc it lengthens and widens the front wheel base but, not the rear. He then installed some wheel spacers in the rear to widen it and make it more symmetrical. I’m going to do the same to mine as soon as I find a good deal on some. Just an idea.
