Upgrading my 05 txt pds drive 36v ezgo to a 48v system and lift. As of now I'm looking at going with a Jakes long travel lift kit if that affects the 48v mods at all. So my question is what all do I need to change for this conversion, where do you put the two extra batters(I recently bought 6 new batteries so Im going with the 8 6v setup) and also if you have recommendations on brands etc I would love them. You can either trade the new 6v in on 6/8v or I new one guy who sold his 6/6v and bought 6/8v or you can add two 6v batteries in the bagwell like this picture shows:
You will need a speed control rated at 48v,the stock one is not.
A solenoid rated for 48v matched to the controller
And a few 4g cables

Scotty,

Do you need a 48v solenoid if you add the 6volts mid-pack?

Thanks!

If you add 2 batteries to the pack it becomes a 48v pack. Solenoid activation circuits are voltage specific. You can get 36v from a 48v pack and use that to activate the solenoid, as long as the solenoid is rated to handle the increased amperage. Hope this helps.

I remember seeing a diagram that only required a 48v capable controller. Any guidance on wiring so that your solenoid only sees 36v?

Thanks

Assuming your 36v solenoid is rated to handle the duty cycle..... simply activate it with 36v. Where you get that will depend upon which cart, which model, & what drive system you are asking about. A handheld voltmeter will be needed to verify your 36v source.
