Post Late Model Marathon Axle Flip?

I have a late model Marathon golf cart project. I am wanting to put a Polaris 325 4 stroke motor in it. Without the transmission just pully to clutch. The motor pully turns over CCW and the clutch on the golf cart goes backwards in CCW and Foward in CW. I dont know if I should somehow flip the engine and put it in the back compartment backwards to fit, Or should I flip the rear axle so the clutch is on the passenger side and will fit the motor perfectly? Will the axle run the same in running in reverse? Will the gears handle it and will it still go fast? Just some questions I have.

you have an earlier marathon. the later marathons, from 89-94 had the clutches running back to front. flipping the axle side to side will make no difference. don't know if running in reverse will do any harm. might try posting in the big block forum. good luck
