To remove the oil residue build up in the muffler. Remember were carting 25 year+ carts some has the injector pump removed some not. If the oil mixture is rich you will get a build up in the exhaust system, To solve this problem many just remove it and have a bone fire or a good ole BBQ. Enjoy

Oh I forgot really I think the purpose is a reason to get together with some friends drink your beer eat alot of your food then go home and take a nap. It worked for me. Start making call in advance as they won't want to miss this.
