Re: any pros and cons for having a black top
One thing black will do is get a little hotter than white. Being hotter will allow for more expansion and contraction of the plastic top. If you can, put some sort of stiffener into the top before spraying....1/4" aluminum angle or box tubing. This will keep the top from sagging/rising in the hot sun.
edit: I would do the above for a single layer top. the new tops should be OK but will still expand and contract some |

Re: any pros and cons for having a black top
The person before me painted my top black and it doesnt seem to have any problems but I had seen those covers on here (I think) through one of the vendors. I dont remember the cost but they do support the site.

Re: any pros and cons for having a black top
You may have a problem with the weight. I know its bigger but we painted my brothers Jeep top with spray on bedliner and it easily doubled the weight if not more to get the coverage needed.
