A D297 pushes my cart to 20mph on 36v with a stock curtis 400amp controller.

The D297 is a significant step up from the stock motor and I think the NPX series of controllers are not robust enough for it. Alltrax recommends the NPX controllers as a replacement for stock controllers with stock motors.

Check out this link: http://www.alltraxinc.com/Products_NPX.html
