Default Cable advice

Still trying to determine my power problem on my cart. Have about decided it is the batteries even though they are only about 3 years old. It did dawn on me that I was running the charger off an extension cord, thought that might be part of the problem so I am gonna charge again straight from plug.
I also noticed that the cables looked like 6 guage to me. Will 4 or 2 gauge really make that much difference? The controller has been replaced also. What else should I look to upgrade that will improve the power. The speed seems fine to me, gonna tests with my GPS, but doesn't have any torque and starts to "slip" or "jump" a little when put under strain.

That sounds like battery problem. Sometimes the battery will show the proper voltage until it's put under a strain. Then one cell will drop out. This sudden drop in voltage will cause the problem you describe.
