Default 88 ezgo marathon issue

This last year I've installed the following

4ga wire (all)
Added 22 x 10 tires
Installed 2 yr old batteries out of a bad boy buggy cart
Added Jakes lift ,5"

Here is my issue- after driving about 10-15 Mins I can smell a distinct "plastic smell" and when I remove the seat to inspect, the 2 wires that come off the F & R switch and go directly to motor are very hot. The switch is also fairly hot. Connections look good to me. Does this point to a bad F & R switch?
Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Cody

Looks are deceiving.

Could be bad contacts in F/R.
Could be a bad connection between ring terminal and F/R stud.
Could be a bad connection between cable conductor and ring terminal.

Could be all three.

I believe l'll start by replacing the fr switch since it looks like the original that came on cart. Thank you for the advice!
