Default what causes a controller to blow?

at my work we have 60 2002 club car ds with the iq system last year at the end of the golf season i had 1 die my scanner is showing a main driver off fault. it needed new batteries so we just parked it for the winter and figured we'd do it all at once this spring. so this week i replaced the batteries and got a new controller from club car got everything in and nothing cart doesn't drive solenoid doesn't click. so i replaced the solenoid and the mcor just in case and i still have nothing and am still getting the main driver off fault. what are the chances of getting a bad controller from the dealer? or what causes them to blow in the first place? today i went threw the tests on the 16 pin connector and everything tested good and the motor tested good also. my direct tect support guy wasn't any help as he said the solenoid not clicking has nothing to do with the controller when in fact pin 12 from the controller is the trigger wire for it. i have a call in to club car direct but figured i'd see if anyone here has ideas first. my dealer said they'd replace the new controller if i try one out of another cart and it worked in this cart but if there is something wrong in the cart i don't want to blow another good one. thanks for any input

Could be obc not engaging the solenoid. You can jump the small yellow on solenoid to b- on controller to bypass, and see if it works then. Just make sure it is the small termianl not the big one.
