Default 97 Club Car Lights not Working

Hi there, hopefully you kind folks kind help me out. I'm trying to fix my now deceased grandfather's 97 club car for my grandmother. The situation is as follows: The head light push / pull knob broke and would not turn on the lights so I ordered a new push pull knob for my grandmother. It looks identical to the one I removed. I hook back up the two wires and only the front yellow "running" lights turn on...no headlights and as far as I can tell...no brake lights either. I even reversed connectors and that didn't work. The only other thing to say is that while taking out the old pull knob the wires touched and sparked once...I thought the batteries were not hooked up...oops. Any thoughts? Seems like you'd be able to simply hook the two wires back up but nothing..any help would be appreciated. The cart runs fine too.

Thanks,

All lights worked perfectly before I replaced the push pull knob. Could the brief spark blown all lights except for the yellow running lights? I'll check tomorrow but I'm not thinking so....could be wrong. Anymore thoughts?

Do you have a test light? Check to make sure you have power to the wires that lead to the headlights.

My guess is that there may be a fuse blown someplace. Just because the 'running' lights are on, doesn't necessarily mean that there is power to the actual headlight bulbs. It's probable, but without checking the lights, you won't know for sure.

A well placed test light will get rid of a lot of speculation
