Connected batteries in run position by accident
I replaced three batteries and reconnected them all not noticing I was supposed to put the cart into tow position. There was a pretty good spark when I applied the last lead and I believe I burned out a component. Has anyone else made this mistake? The solenoid is the first component that seems to receive power from the last lead I connected.

The cart is not working. I have 36.3V at the batteries. The lights work fine but the cart will not move, reverse alarm tone is not working when it was prior to the incident. Also, the charger is still double flashing but I believe there is an issue with the small lead from the charging module to the PDS controller. I am resplicing that as well.

They solenoid activation gets its power from the charger connection.
So, put the cart In tow and complete the charger installation |

I am still also not sure what the mall red wire from the charger to the PDS controller is. |

Sounds like you have two issues. Charger not charging batteries and Cart not working.
Charger first. If you have a Powerwise-QE charger, two Red flashes mean the battery pack voltage is too low ,or too high. Specifically, under 27.0V or over 50.4V. You pack voltage is 36.3V, which is mighty low, but within that range, so the charger most likely isn't sensing the pack voltage. Check the silver colored springy contact on the charger plug and the outside of the negative terminal in the cart's charge receptacle, that is where the charger senses the pack voltage. The cart: The small wire coming out of the back of the cart's charge receptacle comes from the reed switch and has to supply pack voltage to J1 Pin-4 on the controller for it to work. The reed switch opens when the charger plug is plugged into the charge receptacle and disables cart so it cannot be drive away with charger attached. The reed switch caused so many headaches that EZGO bypassed it in later years. Here is a schematic of a PDS cart with the solenoid activation circuit highlighted. |
