ok, I am back with another question. After speaking with a technician at golf cart king, I believer it is the igniter. He did say that there are two wires under the flywheel that I should check before I buy it. Dumb question but where is this? I was having a hard time understanding his Texas twang.

Flywheel is under the cooling shroud on the opposite side on the clutch. Its attached to the crank shaft, passenger side.

Back again, so I was inspecting wires yesterday and noticed that when I play and wiggled the pigtail that comes out of the ignitor, it would start. So now I want to replace the pigtail. Are those available ? Its a 6 prong

Can't tell ya buddy. Have to go to a real electronics shop, not radio shack. And show them what you have.

Didn't go to Radio Shack. Called a local Yamaha dealer in my area. he said I have to buy the whole igniter to get a pigtail. Thanks for your very helpful comment though. I appreciate your help.

If it is just one of them you can often cut out that part of the plug and make a connector that fits, then plug in the plug, then plug in the connector for that one wire. However make sure it is not the pin in the ignitor doing it.

I don't expect many to agree, but if it were me, this type of problem, requires a permanent fix. I'd buy what ever part the car needed, and be done with it. I have my cart half way up a mountain 20 miles away from anybody. So durability is paramont in my opinion.

Those expensive ignitors, I have two sitting here but want to put one on my clone and have a spare. Nothing else has the timing advance they do, nothing affordable anyway.
