Awesome I have a lot more info to go on now thank you all so much. I think to get me going I can get hold of some batteries used for electronics backups however when I get ready to go on I will use the 12 volt deep cycle. Just to keep in mind I am not intending to raise it or anything like that. We just live in a small town and my wife would rather take a small cart to the store than waste the gas. I will also come in handy on camping trips.

I've got a 97 switched over to 12 volt batteries. This is what they look like. Will this work? I'm having controller problems at the moment so don't know. Thanks

Oh boy, that little battery isn't long for this world if you try to use it like that!

Sportcoup, not to hijack this tread but did you build a 72 volt system and if so did you do a thread on it?

Sorry I have no idea what anyone just wrote. Could you spell it out for me? What's the smaller battery no going to work?

Batteries are constructed differently for deep cycling as opposed to a starting battery. If you deep cycle a cranking battery it will not last long. If you mix type and sizes of batteries in your pack you will will have trouble.

Basically, you will deplete the energy from the small battery long before the larger batteries even reach 70%. Then the reverse of that is that the smaller battery will reach full charge long before the other two. A cart charger is going to cut off before the large batteries are fully charged. Your run time is going to be severely limited by the small battery.

Batteries of different capacities do not work well together.

Ok thank you. Guess it's time to sell it. Thought I had the battery department taken care of. Thanks for all the help.

Basically if I get 3 of the same 12 volt batteries they will die together and charge together. It will run just not as long right?
