Ok so I went and attempted to get it running and I was successful! It is running rough but it runs with the "straight" bent rod...ha

So I took a video of it running.

And dummy me kept lifting my foot off the pedal to let it idle...duh they don't idle.....

So after all this...time to drink a beer!

Congrats Will! You got a car for $75 bucks!! Now just read this site and do maintenance that we all talk about!! Looks like the choke needs to be wired open till you get a choke cable on it. It should run much better without the choke flopping around.

Read this site, you will learn tons!! Lots of good people on here!

Will do! Thanks for the tips and suggestions.

Now looking closer at the push rod I do believe it was an oil/heat issue. Because the rod is discolored with what I would call heat coloring (That odd brownish color).

One more question. Do you guys have a suggestion on where to get engine parts, push rod, bolts, etc...?

Usually the oiling problem is noticed way too late, when the fuel pump stops working properly. The fuel pumps are rock-solid, when people come to me asking for a fuel pump, i talk to them about the other lines connected to the motor. I know you are not here for fuel pump issues, but i am trying to help you with a potential issue in the future, or root of your current problem.
Can you tell me what this assembly is called? Or is it just the check valve and hoses? I am thinking about just getting new to avoid this happening again. I know this might not be the whole problem but if it is not crazy expensive I would like to replace the check valve and assembly. Thanks

I would call Plowmans or Cartpartplus, both venders on this site. And on that side of the country!

But yes, be sure to follow up on the top end oiling question. And call it a check valve assembly!!

Yes Thank You CG. You guys are probably going to yell at me!!

I found all the bolts that go with it...checked the check valve assembly and blew air through rear oil line, topped the oil up...then I just had to take it for a ride....

And it ran awesome....I couldn't believe it. I guess it's time to order up the new parts and do the tune up stuff to it and it should be a great cart.
I know I keep saying Thank You! But I do really appreciate you guys taking time to help me.

I have had about 50/50 chance of success just removing and cleaning the valve w/ brake cleaner. The valve allows flow in one direction, but not in the other.

So because this is "completed" do I need to close this thread? Or can it stay open? Thanks
