Default Crank seal question

I have read the few posts i could find on how to do crank seals.

Question, if i dont have the clutch puller, can i use the water method like on a snowmobile? Anyone done this and know the thread and size of bolt needed?

I got the fan side done, super easy. Had to make a puller out of a pair of vice grips to yank the seal out.

Cant get the clutch off that side.

There is a thin spring under the exhaust manifold, looks like there is a vertical shaft going up into exhaust, the spring is loose and hanging. There is also a ball stud, for a control lever, but nothing on it. What position should this be in?

You did the right thing by purchasing a puller. 14 MM x 1 MM pitch is the correct thread and I also found out that it is an impossible thread size to find in stock. I even had a machine shop quote me some bolts made special but the economics weren't right. RAY

Got the clutch off, replaced the seal, the lip and spring were no longer attached! Buttoned it back up. Runs like a tame normal golf cart, sounds quiet. No more speed demon.......darnit!

Yeah, but, at least you arent killing it anymore. I've seen lean 2-strokes spitting out glowing pieces of spark plug ceramic (that has to be really, really hot).

Something didnt seem right, not enough power.
So, i fooled around and remembered the exhaust butterfly valve. Mine was disabled and held over with a spring. I disconnected that spring when i loosened the starter.
So, fooled with it tonight, found out which was is open, and used a spring to hold it open.
Power is much better, no rippin high speed, but i dont need to break my neck.
