Smile Battery readings - advise needed

Hi Guys,

I cannot get the '05 Precedent batteries over 60% charged. The batteries show a D7 on all four.

Readings are; #1 - 12.56 volts 1.254, 1.279, 1.229, 1.229, 1.229, 1.229
#2 - 12.46 volts 1.179, 1.229, 1.206, 1.206, 1.206, 1.206
#3 - 12.45 volts 1.206, 1.206, 1.156, 1.206, 1.206, 1.206
#4 - 12.38 volts 1.206, 1.206, 1.180, 1.206, 1.206, 1.231

I rinsed the hyrometer between each cell and the readings are corrected for temp - I added 5 or 6 depending what the thermometer read.

I bought the cart used with these batteries, so I can't speak as to the history of the batteries.

You thoughts please - thanks. Dave

Yep, I have read the charts. The batteries show a D7.

What I'm am wondering about, is there any way to save these POS batteries, or should I run 'em until they are completely shot or ?????

Any advise would be appreciated - thanks. Dave

I know a lot of folks out there do not believe in battery desulphicators but I managed to restore my seven year old batteries which were contaminated by being submerged under water with one of these. They are back up to 98 %. For Fifty bucks its worth a shot.

hey drewskii,

THANKS for the reply. I think that may be my next step.

I haven't been running the car much. After reading so many post's about not running the batteries down, I have been trying to got the batteries up to charge, and they are not cooperating. So I am gonna start running the **** thing 'til the wheels fall off, and see what happens to the flippin' batteries - what have I got to loose?

Thanks again, Dave

Check the OBC. Early versions (2004-2006) Precedents had a software glitch that turned the charger off prematurely. Alot of them have been upgraded, you need software version 3.0 or 3.5. Or, possibly previous owner did not maintain batteries properly and that's all they will take after 2 1/2 years.

chiboy,

THANKS for the information. I will try & get the OBC checked. I've tried to have Club Car give me some advise, and talk to them about a couple of thing's, and since I am not the original owner, none of them have any time for me, bordering on outright hostile. If I would have known then about CC attitude, I would not have purchased this car.

The car came of a golf course, so I have no clue about how the batteries were cared for - if at all.

Thanks again, Dave

Try to contact rocky44, he just changed out his OBC on a 2006. He can explain how to check what software pack is in your cart.

Greetings,
I have a 2004 Precedent Professional and need new Batteries. I found this thread about the recall over the software and I too have contacted CC. I would like to know if anyone has a link to the recall. Some official documentation where this occured? The nomenclature on my OBC is 2.05.
