New to Golf Cart Scene - Is this worth my time and Money
So, I may have an opportunity to get an old beat up ezgo for very cheap.
From the photos I've seen it looks something like a 70s/80s three-wheeled gas E-Z-Go I'm not wanting to accomplish anything major, would just like to be able to fix it up. Make is visually okay to look at, and haul stuff around a relatively flat six acres. With it being three-wheeled is that something I should just stay away from. As I mentioned I think this will be a relatively cheap acquisition. |

3 wheelers have the advantage of a much smaller turn radius which can be handy.

Re: New to Golf Cart Scene - Is this worth my time and Money
From my experience just finishing a complete restoration on a 1990 marathon I wouldn't do it again if I had to pay for everything. My best friend owns a powder coating business so all the parts to powder coat cost me nothing to do. The problem with mine is I,still haven't converted to solid state which cost about 1k.

Re: New to Golf Cart Scene - Is this worth my time and Money
i did a 71 3 wheel ezgo re build (elect) it was a good learning project and there are parts out there for them
even tho it looks hard the front tire change is easy you can fit a 90's dash in the one thing i had a hard time finding was the roof , i ended up re fiber-glassing it |

Re: New to Golf Cart Scene - Is this worth my time and Money
If it is from the 70's I would walk away. There are very few engine parts (if any) available. However the engine changed in 1980 and all the parts that you need are still available. The easiest way to tell is to look at the engine and see if there is an external starter motor on the top. If there is then I would work with it. In 1981 Robin discarded the points and moved to electronic ignition which would be a plus for you. The vehicle tag may still be on the side of the passenger foot well and that will give you the year of manufacture.

Advice isn't always applicable If you just want to use as cart as a tool, and the cart is running, take the cart if it runs and fix whatever doesn't work. I got my first cart this way - it was an old oddball and I learned plenty on it. We used it up and passed it on.

I know it's been a couple of months, I went ahead and purchased the cart unseen and just took delivery of it this weekend. Come to find out its an electric cart so i posted a new thread in the Electric EZGO forum. Please check out the link below and offer any guidance to my new project:
