Removing and cleaning gas tank
Looking for the best way to remove a gas tank on an 89 Marathon. What do you use to clean the tank once you dump out the old, nasty gas?

Re: Removing and cleaning gas tank
So I've researched some and there is a wide range of suggestions on the net. I don't want to accidentally destroy the tank.. so looking for advice from anyone who has done this.

On mine, I removed the tank and shook it a bit with the old gas in it and dumped it into a pan. Did that 2 more times with 1/2 qt. of fresh gas each time. Also blew out steel fuel lines and replaced rubber lines and used a new filter. Worked fine. I changed the fuel filter after 2 tanks of gas.

I’ll second blowing out the fuel lines & changing out the filters. You might want to take the carb apart as well to clean it out. It doesn’t take much to plug up the carb.

Re: Removing and cleaning gas tank
Due to a master brake cylinder failure I let my cart sit until the fuel went bad. I removed the tank & I sprayed a can of carb cleaner in the tank, then rinsed with fresh gas. Replaced fuel lines and filters...... she fired right up and purrs like a kitten
