That's the same muffler from 88. I would assume that they also used the BV-24 carburetor from 88. That combination made an extra 2 horsepower.

So if I end up having to get a replacement carb at some point then I want to look for a BV-24 then?

Doing a little research on the 1988 "HO" setup for these 2PG's. Sounds like the carb and the exhaust were some of the main changes. Did the picture I posted of my exhaust look like it's also the 1988 version you are talking about?

After doing a little more digging, from what i can see the way the pipes route out of the muffler like you were asking about before make it the 1988 only muffler, so I'm assuming this is the HO setup.

The first post in this thread has your wiring diagram. I will also upload a manual from 85 that can be used for the rest of your stuff. The difference is that the 87, and up carts have a second microswitch mounted on the FnR switch. It's called the neutral safety switch.

If I was buying parts for your cart, I would consider it an 88. That would mean the bigger BV-24 carburetor.

Got it..thanks again. I pulled off the fuel pump and pulled it apart...very corroded in there, soaking now trying to see if I can clean it up. The diaphragms weren't torn, but seemed stretched if that makes any sense. Is it worth doing a rebuild? Looks only slightly more expensive just to buy a new fuel pump.

And if I buy a pump, I see one listed for an 82-88, than a different part number and slightly different price for 89-90 1/2. So which to buy? This is an 89 cart, but has the 88 2pg in it according to everything we've seen, so do i go with the earlier pump? What actual differences might there be in the two?

I replaced my pump because the rebuild kit was the same price.

I would buy the 88 pump. The newer ones are for a 3-pg.

Thanks. Could the gunked up fuel pump with the "warped" diaphragms have been causing the issues I'm experiencing do you think? These diaphragms were like a hard cellophane plastic and were bowed/stretched over the cavities.

It seemed like it was flooding, but I guess it could have been starving for fuel.

My diaphragms were stretched tight, and flat. The white gunk is from ethanol gas going bad.

Yea, white gunk on the diaphragms, but rust colored corrosion down in the valleys of the pump itself.

Replaced the fuel pump today with the new one, and put in a new spark plug. Still no go. Got about 30 seconds of very slow speed then died completely and won't start again.

Sounds like the entire fuel system needs a good cleaning. From the tank to the carburetor.
