Default Murphy's Law

I was gapping my EZGO 2003 TXT valves. I was on the passenger side and like a fool laid my feeler gage on top of the gas tank. As I reached for it I knocked it off and the gage fell between the tank and body. Of course it did not fall all the way to the bottom. My question is does anyone have s secret way of removing the tank. My tank's front mount is on the wrong side of the bracket. Do I have to pull the body to pull the tank? I am not concerned about retrieving the gage as much as I am worried about the gage vibrating and rubbing a hole in the side of the tank. Anyone have an suggestions for this dumba$$?

Can you get one of those fancy "magnet on a stick" down there to retrieve it?

Well, I have a magnet on a flexible rod but the feeler gage is stainless steel and the magnet won't pick it up, even if I could get the magnet down there. I am just going to have to take the back of the tank loose, remove the air cleaner box and see if I can pull the tank back enough to clear that front bracket and lean it toward the engine enough to fish the gage out. Thanks.

Long stick with a gob of silicone on the end may work.
Or one of those flexible grabby things sold at the auto parts store. Like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/291775843537

Yeah, I have one of those too. Didn't try it. Will do thanks. If I can grab the handle I might be able to get it, grabbing the blade will just slip off. I will report tomorrow on my success. thanks
