Default Yamaha g22 gas flooding problem

I have a gas g22 Yamaha
It sat for 3yrs, drained and cleaned fuel system, installed new carb. When started, it runs for a minute then blows white smoke and backfires, pushes gas into air cleaner, and wets plug. Acts like float is sticking but carb is new. Took cover off and no Valves sticking.....
Any ideas?

Welcome. Is the new carb a knockoff from china? They are usually crap What was wrong with the original carb? I've found that it's better to clean/rebuild the OEM carb, if possible...

Is that a China carb by any chance? If it was less than $200 or so it is.

Just a couple of months ago I put a new carb on my G1 and it was flooding out just like yours is. I adjusted the float at least 20 times and monkeyed with a bunch of other stuff but the cart just kept flooding. Finally, I again replaced the carb and all has been well since. My first China carb was no good. The second China one was.

Most cart parts, to include carbs, are made in China. Take it from a lot of us here. New and made in China doesn't mean it's going to work.

Now, if it's not a China carb that's different. I don't know 4 strokes so someone else will chime in if that's the case.

Set valve lash a tight intake valve will push gas back into air box

.004" on valves setting float is easy pull carb off and take bowl hold carb level and blow air through fuel inlet and raise the float float should stop air flow when it's level
