The 350 is a great little workhorse. I recommend not putting the 295 head on it. In our experience it won't ever run right or long. Plus the dismal crank shaft lubrication in the 350 Robin is it's Achilles heal and it is just not up to increased loads. Your experience may differ.

Thanks scottyb. I appreciate your expertise and experience. I know you mentioned somewhere that you had done it or been witness to having done the head swap. It feels like I am turning over rocks to achieve what I want. As an old golf club fleet manager told me last week, I bought the cart 5 years old so the little 295 was actually worn out when I got it. Now 16 years later it is ready for retirement. He felt even a fresh 295 would suit me and a fresh 350 in stock trim would delight me. He offered to bring it back to factory spec for $625 if nothing major is broken. He too recommended against the 295 head swap.

Most of our members who hop up their gas carts are deep into high performance. Me, I just want to swap out granny's straight six for a nice 283 with a two barrel carb. While a 468CI blown big block V8 would be fun, the side effects might grow old quickly the way I use a cart. Slipping in a 15HP Lifan clone is probably the perfect solution for my needs, but there is so much to do to prep the cart for it that it I hesitate to go that route. My buddy's Carryall II with a freshly rebuilt FE350 has the torque I like so maybe the Robin 350 in a fresh state is what I need, even if I don't know it.
