Default Need advice on DIY 295 CC bored to 350CC / 375

Hi,

I have a 1995 ish medalist with a blown 295CC motor. I am looking to get more power by rebuilding and boring to 350cc or more. I have expierence with rebuilding a 1999 and 2002 295 and 350 CC.

I am told CT carts can rebuild, however I believe there may be parts that would hurt core parts.

Does anyone have real life experience/knowledge with boring a 295 and is No 350 cc pistons. What carb items were needed, other machining, etc

Thanks,

You can't bore it to 350. The 350 has a larger bore and longer stroke. The CT Rebuilds "375" is not actually 375cc. It is more like 325cc.

The carbs for the 295 and 350 are the same except for a bigger main jet for the 350.

I just installed one of the CT Rebuilds “375’s” in my 2001. Not much run time yet, but seems to have more power.

I bought an EBay 350 carb for it.

I do like the ease of swapping in a bigger stock motor compared to the big block swaps I’ve done.

A lot of people have been happy with the CT Rebuilds engines. Yes, it is much easier to swap in "like for like".

Thanks for the reply!

Their website states they use a std size 350 piston and claim 375. What are your sources that say it’s actually 325?

You tell me. How do you put a 350 piston in a 295cc engine and get more displacement than 350cc? Does the 295cc engine have significantly longer stroke than the 350 engine? That is the only way you could get more displacement by only fitting a larger diameter piston and changing nothing else.

Think about it.

Your right Rooster, you would have to make it a stroker motor to get more then 350

I thought the 375 is a .0050 over 350 to make 375. That would make sense.

The 350 and 295 have different crankshafts, so the 350 may have a longer stroke? I don't know, I could not find that spec.

I can't find the bore x stroke specs for either engine either. My manual might have it but that is 1500 miles from me at the moment. The 350 piston has different wrist pin placement which suggests the 350 is not a bored 295. Likely more stroke as well. Someone in an old thread guesstimated the 295 with a 350 piston was about 319cc but I can't find that thread. Boring .050" over stock on any single or twin cylinder small displacement engine will give a few more cc but not a lot. Simple math.

Yeah, I don’t know the specifics of the stroke for either engine. Although I have rebuilt both 295 and 350. Not proclaiming to be an expert by any means, but curious to know how it’s going to 375, unless there’s a longer stroke on the 295
