94 Ezgo gas cart solenoid
I have recently picked up a 94 ezgo gas cart for cheap and I have had it running twice but after running both times as soon as I cut the switch off the solenoids goes bad. Any help on why I might be burnin through solenoids would be appreciated

Re: 94 Ezgo gas cart solenoid
What kind of solenoid are you using... Golf carts solenoids are continuous duty so if you arent getting continuous duyt solenoids this could be your problem

Re: 94 Ezgo gas cart solenoid
I bought one from buggies unlimited that was recommended for the year and model Cart I have. The difference I seen was this one I have was suppose to be 14v vs the 12v for previous models

Re: 94 Ezgo gas cart solenoid
What about the solenoid is going "bad"? Does the solenoid click? The control side of the solenoid (small wires) needs 12 volt + (small blue wire) and a ground (small black wire) in order to complete the circuit. That power side goes through the ignition switch and pedal / limit switch.

Re: 94 Ezgo gas cart solenoid
The solenoid does not click anymore, I have voltage after micro switch right before I place on solenoid. Would bad voltage regulator cause the solenoid to quit working

Re: 94 Ezgo gas cart solenoid
To energize he circuit it takes 12 volt + and ground -. With ignition on and pedal pushed you should have 12 volt + on the solenoid terminal with the small blue wire (also has 2 small red wires) and ground on the small black wire. The voltage regulator shouldn't have anything to do with it. Worst case if the voltage regulator was stuck full open it just wouldn't charge and the battery would eventually go dead. Stuck closed it would charge too high (maybe 18 to 20 volts) which would be bad for the battery & any light bulbs, but shouldn't actually hurt the solenoid.
