Default switched power

I've tried asking this a couple different ways with no response. Is there any way to get a switched 12v+ from the key switch. I don't want to use the light switch. I want to power brake lights so I don't want it only when lights are on.

Couldn't you just run a fused 12 volt wire to the switch on the brake pedal, maybe from the terminal where your positive battery cable hooks to?

poppy, as SB is saying, you don't need to wire the brake lights from the key or light switch.

Unless there is something about that new cart I have never heard of.

If the power isn't switched wouldn't the brake lights be on when the parking brake is applied?

I've used a 5 pin relay. Constant power to the + input (85 & 30), ground the control side (86) through the ignition and + feed to the brake lights through the Normally Open pin (87A on most).

Thanks for the replies. I want switched power so the brake lights don't stay on with the parking brake. Like Rooster59 said.

They make a relay with a timer that you can use. It only supply's power for a minute or two and then turns off. So when you lock the brake it will stay on for a minute or what ever timer relay you get. And then turn off the brake lights
