Default Advice on going from 14" to 12"

I just got a new ezgo rxv elite and have the below wheels and tires.

14" GTW Spyder Wheel – Matte Black https://www.buggiesunlimited.com/gol...e-black/19-245

GTW Fusion GTR Steel Belted Radial Tire - 205x40xR14
https://www.buggiesunlimited.com/gol...quired)/20-054

I want to go to something smoother riding and looking at going to 12". Will this help that much and also curious what size 12" tire to get and what kind of tire is the best riding?

215/50-12 gives you a 20.5" tire, max for the stock controller and no lift.

Will a 215/40-12 Tire ride better than a 205/40-14 tire?

ANY 40 series tire is going to ride "less smooth" due to the much smaller sidewall.
Think less rubber to absorb bumps, the same as 40 series tires on a car...
I think you should look at a "higher" series of tire, while keeping in mind the "actual" total diameter of your wheel/tire combo needs to stay stock to avoid rubbing issues.
Just my $ 0.02, hope it helps !

Your current 205/40r14 tires are 20.5" outside diameter with 3.2" of sidewall and 8.1" wide.

If you go 215/40/12 (if you can find that size) the OD is 18.8" with 3.4" of sidewall and 8.5" wide. So it's a little smaller diameter tire.

If you want to keep your 20.5" diameter on a 12" tire then a 215/50r12 is 20.5" OD, 8.5" wide and 4.2" of sidewall.

These are kinda close... 195/55r12 is a little narrower, but has 20.4" OD, 7.7" wide and 4.2" sidewall. Lastly, 205/50r12 is 20.1"OD, 8.1" wide and 4" sidewall. Smaller OD will reduce top speed a little and increase torque a little.

--- edit ---

All the numbers listed above are by the math. The actual tire measurements can vary from this. If you want to play with other tires I use https://tiresize.com/calculator/ to check tire sizes.
