Plastic golf cart bodies are the best think since the invention of sliced bread..... they are light weight and indestructible. What more could you ask from a GC body?

Re: Starting project for a first timer, 95 Medalist rebuild
wow, May, really? Jesus time and life gets in the way sometimes.....
anyhow, I'm ready to resume this project after life has settled down some, new job, family stuff...you know the drill. I'm going to do some searching on the forums and start digging in. I hope you are all still willing to help me out. I'd REALLY like to do this just once. :) Plan so far is to go back with all new parts, from the wiring to batteries and cables and motor, etc. Going 48 volts instead of the old 36. At one point when I started this, I was thinking I really wanted to do the AC conversion....but it's evenmore expensive now... I'd like to get roughly 30 MPH out of it when it's done. If I go the DC route, any ideas on how to accomplish this? Everything i've read estimates in the 25mph range....is it really that hard to get that extra 5? Also on wiring...the plan was to scrap everything in the cart, and use all new for the whole thing. Should I save anything? Is it worthwhile to go all new? thanks everyone. Lets hope I can stay on task this time. :) |

Re: Starting project for a first timer, 95 Medalist rebuild
Ok, so a question I guess the 2001.5 is when they relocated the steering box to the front axle? Is there an advantage to retrofitting my cart to do this? Or am I good to leave it up on the frame?
I'm pretty convinced after seeing checkrides powder coated frame that I'm going that way. Estimate I got was about 125 bucks. Seems reasonable. Yes, the battery box is shot. I have a good friend that owes me several favors and owns a sheetmetal shop, He'll rebuild me one. He can also do any frame mods I need. How can I check the frame for things that might be bent? How can you check the frame for square? |

Re: Starting project for a first timer, 95 Medalist rebuild
I run all new wire on my rebuilds. It is just good knowing that you won't have a failure due to a circuit failure where wires have rubbed on the frame for 10 years already. There really are very few wires to replace ...
