fe 290 rebuild
ok so i would really like to upgrade to bb but the budget just won't allow it anytime soon so... i need to redo the topend of my fe290. going to go with 25 over piston and rings if cylinder allows it . also planning on getting the head shaved a bit . what else should i be doing or getting along with these parts. should i go ahead and replace valve seals while i got it all apart? what kind of cost should i be looking at to have cyl and head work done?

Re: fe 290 rebuild

Re: fe 290 rebuild
Regarding the cylinder re-bore and head shaving, my local machine shop quoted me $65 and $35 respectively. If you check with the site sponsors you should be able to factor in the cost of a new piston, rings and valve seals + a gasket kit. A modest tool kit and a bit of mechanical savvy should see the job done easily over a weekend.
