Default Mikuni carb on 81 robins 2 cycle info

I am having difficulty getting this to run without keeping my hand over the carb.
Does anyone have any info on this carb and/or compatible models that could be used as
a replacement.?

Might have better luck if you ask a mod to move this thread to the gas section.

Robby,
It probably isn't the carburetor. Those 2 stroke engines are very intolerant of air leaks. If you are hving to restrict the air flow by hand (so to speak) then the possibility exists that you have and air leak. I would look around tthe carb and the elbow and make sure everything is tight. Does the cart still have the oil injection system? If so check the integrity of the oil pipe and connections. Sadly the usual suspects are the crankshaft oil seals. If you can make it run, get it on axle stands and get a friend to spray WD40 or similar on the rear seal by the crankcase. If the engine reponds in any way to the spray your seal is shot. You should also do the same to the front seal but is impossible to get to with the fan in the way so just try spraying into the air cooling slots and see what happens.

BTW as you now know you posted to the wrong thread.
