Default Carryall 272 locking transaxle help needed

Here's an odd one - In the 2004/2005 parts schematics for a Carryall 272/472 they list two transaxles, both locking, most of the parts are the same except for a few.

The pinion on one has 13 teeth, and its paired with 72 tooth output gear.
The pinion on the other has 12 teeth, paired with 64 tooth output gear.

I have one of these on my cart and by my calculation it's 15:1 forward and 20:1 reverse.

So my questions is which gear set do I have, and what ratio will the other provide?

Very good question. I'm curious myself. I never knew there was more than one variation of this. I'll call Club Car about this when I get back to work on Monday. Remind me if I haven't posted by Tuesday.

Thank you David!

I suspect from comparing stock and 'high speed' gears for a DS that more teeth = less top speed, more torque, higher gear ratio.

These are the part numbers in question.

Axle model number MC012C-BS00 prior to serial number MC012C3J0001
12 tooth pinion 102268201
64 tooth output 102268301

Axle model number MC012C-BS00 Beginning with serial number MC012C3J0001
13 tooth pinion 102452501
72 tooth output 102452401

The newer input shaft saw a change that added a groove for a circlip, but I deduce that the rest of the gear is the same since all of the other gears, bearings, etc that touch it are the same part numbers.

One final part difference between the two is in the output gear carrier. It's odd that its different though since every part bolted to it (except the gear itself) is identical for both models. The only thing that makes sense is that maybe the gear is a different thickness and the carrier makes up the difference.

My dealer is old school, fleet sales and service only. I'd really like to find a dealer that would help me research this and track down the parts. I'm not even sure if this is a cost effective modification. I saw the output gear priced at $469 from golf carts direct. I'm hoping that's full msrp.

I know I’m digging up and old post but the members are still active. I have the same rear end and my serial number is MC012C9B0161. Do both of these listed above have 15:1 ratios? This would explain my lack of top speed with my big block swap.

Current plan is to swap gears and CPP says they’ll fit so I’m planning on that route.
