Better Cart to Upgrade for Hunting Lease??
I just purchased a EZGO 07 TXT with a mechanical F/R. I want to make improvements for hunting camp. I bought the cart with these intentions only to find out I should have bought the PDS system.(dealer opinion) My local dealer is telling me its to much to upgrade and I won't be happy with the end result. The cart is setup with a 4" lift, Rear Folding Seat and big tires. I would love to keep this cart if its the right way to go. I think I have a good base but need some insight from people who know more than I do.
Thanks Josh R |

Re: Better Cart to Upgrade for Hunting Lease??
The mechanical f&r switch means its a series cart. A sepex cart, with the rocker switch often doesn't handle larger tires and lower speeds too well. To make it short the cart you have is actually better that a pds for what you are doing.

I'll second that opinion, if my train of thought counts for anything.

Re: Better Cart to Upgrade for Hunting Lease??
that is the best platform for stealth hunting. pds carts do not like to crawl. also. this cart is easily upgraded to 48v. happy hunting!

Re: Better Cart to Upgrade for Hunting Lease??
Thanks for the responses. They are helping me move toward a decision. The cart has the stock motor still. I am thinking about upgrading it but don't know which motor to choose. I've read other posts on here suggesting PQ and other brands. What are some upgrades I can do besides batteries to give me more torque and more speed?

Re: Better Cart to Upgrade for Hunting Lease??
I would start by upgrading all cables to at least 4 ga. than a controller and solenoid, before the motor. Just my $.02

I'll stand with everyone else here so far, the series is better for hunting. It will not be a speed demon, but can be a torque monster...
Upgrade cables, then controler, it should do everything you want to do with it. |

Re: Better Cart to Upgrade for Hunting Lease??
Well, other than batteries you can do what WrongWay and Scooter suggested. Cables first. Should yield in a seat of the pants difference. There is a gentleman on here that goes by the name Scottyb. His company is www.cartsunlimited.net, check it out. He will get you going in the right direction. All you need to do is tell him what you want and he will give you several options. More than likely going to be cables, controller and f&r

I have a txt cart upgraded with all the goodies necessary for hunting. I think the top speed is 7mph (adjustable via my alltrax controller and a laptop, but honestly....I haven't touched it) but this cart has torque out the wazoo!! Speed isn't the name of the game. At least not here in Southwestern Pa. We have plenty of hills...and steep ones, so torque is the need. I also installed front jake brakes in order to stop on the steep downhills. Don''t be afraid of the TXT for hunting....unless your hunting out west on flat land. My EZ-GO has been the best investment to get me out where I need to be...and get me back. |
