The amber battery light gives out an infra red signal which when read with a hand held diagnostic meter tells you a lot of information about the battery. It gives out, 1. the battery voltage at that moment, 2. energy units used since the last charge, 3. total number of energy units used, and 4. the way the last charge cycle ended. There was a discussion of this meter in an earlier post. The light also flashes codes that are in the service manuals for using as a trouble shooting guide. They have a notorious habit of not working also. We replace them frequently at the golf course where I work. TahoeDawg can give you the lowdown on this light.

It really does have a purpose, so don't just ignore it but find out why it is on.

Did you noticed at what voltage your light come on?
Mine seems to come on when voltage is about 48.6 at rest. I try not to let it get below 48.4 unless I am a long ways from home. Again I am nursing an old set of Trojans hoping to get one last year out of them unless I can find a good deal on a new set.

Anyone near central Indiana know where to find a good price on Trojan T-875's?

Thanks!

Not all club car models, but from the precedent manual:
Quote:
LED Light: In addition to the warning light, there is an infrared LED in the dash light assembly, which transmits an infrared signal from the onboard computer (OBC). This signal is received by the optional Communication Display Module, which provides information on the condition of the vehicle and batteries.
