Rebuild or reseal?
Dug a 1985 marathon out of one of the barns. Pretty good shape but doesn't run. New battery, new gas, cleaned carb (was really bad). Pulled engine and found that the rings are seized up. Piston looks bad so needs top end kit. I assume it ran lean due to bad crank seals which is prob why it won't fire as well. Also the fuel pump is not pumping as well as i think it should. My questions are: Should I do a complete rebuild (new crank etc.)? Or just new seals and top end?

Re: Rebuild or reseal?
Hey flathead! welcome to the forum. If the lower rod bearing and crankshaft bearings operate smoothly I don't see why they would need to be replaced. Probably should check crank for any grooves where the seals contact it.
