G8 s/g or vr?
Is there a way to test if my starter generator is charging?
At rest the battery reads 13v but when I run it it drops to 11.7v. Just wondering if there is a way to test it before it gets too the voltage regulator. |

The red and green wires coming out of the field are the charging wires. They should read 5 ohms. Check for continuity of the red and green wires thru the wire harness to the voltage regulator. Also check continuity of the black wire at the vr to the battery negative post.

Checked ohms from vr to sg of the red and green wires-6.0
Checked continuity of the ground from harness to negative post. It beeped. Took vr off and checked for continuity where the red and green would plug in... Nothing. Does that mean bad vr? |

I unhooked the VR and it runs it shows it's charging at 12.7v. I'm confused
|
