Shorter clutch belt
I read the sticky but it only lists it as up to a 2006.
Mine is 2007 ST350 and have verified it has 28 degree clutch Belt on there currently is 72054g01 I believe. What do I replace it with? |

Re: Shorter clutch belt
27077-G02 is what I'd go with - the sticky probably listed '06 as the highest year because in '07 and '08 they were changing over to the Kawasaki drivetrain (a whole different animal) ... That belt is just over an inch shorter than yours so it's going to be a bit sticky and jumpy for a week or two until it breaks in, but the increase in torque FAR exceeds the $35 cost of the belt, it's definitely a worthwhile swap.

Re: Shorter clutch belt
Found it on Amazon prime for $32.99, so it'll be here Wednesday. Sterns brand.
Will I be able to just roll it on? |

Re: Shorter clutch belt
Yep - it'll be fairly tight, start it on the front clutch with your shifter in neutral, then musle it over the driven clutch, top-first. It'll feel like it's not going to go but it will

Re: Shorter clutch belt
Have you ever noticed the belts being so tight the cart moves before the engine fully starts..

Re: Shorter clutch belt
Yes. Put my shorter belt on a few months ago. It is still hard to shift on a slope too. But the extra rpm at slow speed is worth it. Kind of like tip toeing through the woods in a 4wd in granny low. Much more control at low speed technical driving like backing into a tight space or loading on a trailer.
I haven't had a chance to check its ability to climb out of deep slopes yet. Due to a shoulder problem I didn't go to deer camp this year. Hunting at home this year. |

Re: Shorter clutch belt
If you want lower rpm should do it with weights and springs not a tighter belt. I would think on such a smaller hp system the more effeicient the better.

Re: Shorter clutch belt
Belt on and definitely could tell a difference, plus I'm sure old belt was a little loose due to age. Much peppier from a stop and actually was even a couple MPH faster top end. I imagine this is also because old belt was worn.
Drove it again a couple hours later and it felt a little different and not quite as fast, so I imagine that's the break in period side effect. |
