Default No start when cold (1999 txt)

My cart (1999 txt) starts and runs just fine unless it is cold outside. Believe it or not we had snow in the Florida panhandle last night. Tried to start the cart this afternoon. It cranks fine, but no ignition. Can smell gas (flooding) after a few seconds. Let it set two or three times for 20 minutes or so, still no ignition. Gave up after the third or fourth attempt as it was too cold in the garage. The cart has new plugs and a new carb. Gas is fresh. Could a valve adjust be the culprit. Have never conducted a compression check.

Very well could be valves generally get tighter witch when they get to tight will drop compression making it hard to start especially when in the 30s

How much choke are you giving it when you get started? Have you tried just giving it a little gas when you start out if you are fully choked? Or only going half choke?

I just give a small amount of throttle , in the sweet spot where you hear a different in the sound. I have always used full choke. Maybe I need to try half choke?

If the valves are good, it is likely to be the transition jet in the carb or the associated drilling's for it. give the carb a strip down and a real good cleaning including all the drilling's by using a small fine wire strand, or preferably two strands twisted together. then a good soaking in carb cleaner or similar. I dont advocate using an airline as it could push any contamination in further and make it worse.
