Default 01 EzGo Gas TXT will not always move

Have a lifted 2001 Ezgo TXT gas motor that from time to time will not rev up to move.

Today went to get on the cart to move it, clutch is moving, running at low rpm but will not pick up. Started doing something else, and came back to cart and it started, slowly picked up and drove it about 15 blocks. Parked it.

This is not the first time this has happened. 2 days ago, it started fine, drove to buddies house was there about an hour and it would not rev up to move.

I have replaced spark plugs, gas lines, fuel pump, fuel filter, new oil and filter, and new air filter. Starter motor belt seemed to be loose and tightened, after that seemed good for a while, but started doing it again.

Take carb off give it a good cleaning and set valve lash to .004" cold generally when people say belt won't catch it means starter is turning motor over and it's not actually firing tight valves will make it hard to start

Exactly this.

Colder weather will make it worse. Do the valves first though, as that is the more common issue on these, If the valves are still the original ones, the valves will be the earlier soft ones. If they are really bad, then new replacement valves will be the upgraded harder ones, but usually adjustment solves the issue.
