Default Hei conversion 2pg

1980 ezgo 2pg I lost spark recently. I switched to the hei maintaining the stock coil. I only have spark when I depress the pedal for the 1st revolution of the engine then the spark stops. So I purchased a new ezgo coil with no luck.i have replaced the hei 3 times now. From low end brands to accel. Still only Sparks when you first push the pedal down then stops. Ohmed pulsar 150. Added several grounds. Checked and rechecked all wiring. The solenoid is new. It's only transferring 11v on the power side of the solenoid to the hei but I would assume that's still adequate?

11v is fine. Most HEIs only need 9v or up.

While I have never done an HEI conversion on an EZGo I have done them on HDs and Columbias which are similar configurations. The one spark has always meant a burnt out HEI from too much current in the ignition circuit. Is your coil internally resisted? If so do you know how much? You may need to add a ballast resister.

Here is a link to a couple of Columbia stickies that pertain to the HEI and ignition modules. They would apply totally to your cart but I believe that some of the information is pertinent.

I thought I had replied to this a few days ago, but apparently not.

Set your meter to AC volts. Check your pulsar for .5 volt.

Does your starter run continuously until you flip the gear into neutral? Mine did, it was a bad ground on the ignitor..
