Default Upgrade SR Series

Hello everyone new here. I have a 02 ezgo txt 36V on 23” tires. I plan on upgrading the controller to SR48400 with 400 solenoid. Right now the cart lacks so much torque off road and I get the big tires make me lose torque that I want back. Trojan batteries 6 month old with brand new 2 gage wires. What else would I need to do?

if it were me.....and you are going to get a new controller......for starters I would go with a 485.....and 2 more batteries to make the jump to 48v. The extra voltage will get you 30% ,ore torque and speed......and by going with the 485 you will be able to better use that power.

EDIT: oh yeah....you will need a charger too! (48v)…...thanks dave

Don't forget.....if you upgrade to 48V you will need a 48V charger.

I appreciate it. Where would two more batteries fit? I know one can fit on the driver side but that’s about all the room there is... I’ll snap a picture when I go home for lunch if that’ll help. I’ll still need to get the 400 solenoid right?

You can move the controller plate back closer to the fender to allow room for another battery.

You can also put them in the bagwell.

Batteries aren’t Trojan... I don’t know why I thought they were. Thank you all for the input.

Also is the Alltrax Shift on the fly FN1 for SR controller worth it? If I did the 485 controller 400 solenoid and the FN1 could I later convert to 48V?

YES......when I did my cart years ago I had just bought my 6x6v pack and did my complete upgrade....with in my case included a high speed motor.....5 years later I bought 6x8v and the charger.....it REALLY flies now! (30 mph).
