Unhappy G9 Squeeks at slow speed and won't climb

Hi All,

New to BGW. Having a problem with my G9. Recently, I have been getting a squeek when I almost come to stop then accelerate. Also, just noticed a problem with climbing steep hills. Is this the begiining signs of needing a new belt? As far as I can tell, everything is stock on this cart. Please advise!

If belt is 1" wide or less it is junk, and worse if on a lifted cart. I would recommend you clean and lube the clutches if you have not. I do mine once a year.

Is the belt making the noise? If the belt is not dropping to the bottom of the engine clutch when you stop it will do this. Pull the engine clutch out with your hands so the belt drops in, and see if it takes off normally.

Thanks Sho305! I have a new belt coming, I'll try that first. Do I have to take the off and apart to clean and lube? I'm not the mechanical type!

I mean the clutches. Do I have to take them off and apart to clean?

You can do it on the cart, just need to get the cover off the primary. I use a can of brake clean, a grease gun, and some chain lube or light oil like gun oil or similar.

I posted a big old book on cleaning the clutches, check that out, just read over it and do what you need depending how nasty yours look. I do them when a person gets a cart, unless they go in a lot of water or tons of dust/dirt you only need to grease them after that and they work well. If you have a newer or clean serviced cart you may not have to do all that but it really does not take that long to do if you are handy with that stuff.
