Default Marathon Throttle Pot Problem

Hey everyone - Been visiting here awhile, but just became a member. I've been trying to figure out what's going on with my marathon. I've narrowed it down to a throttle pot issue, but am not sure what to replace. Let me explain: 92ish marathon cart, all stock, 36 volt. Problem is no power up ANY incline. Batteries are at 36-37 volts at cruise and 33-34 up a slight incline. Load tested each one and they all only lose @ 1/2 volt. When I checked the ohms to the controller from the throttle pot, it read 0-5k in reverse and 0-2500 in forward. If I unplug the f/r switch, I can get the full 5k in forward. I didn't think that the f/r switch would affect the t-pot, but... Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

The potentiometer is designed to give 1/2 speed in reverse. It has 2 separate outputs as you have found...... You simply need to locate the 2 pot outputs and switch them.

the micro on the F&R is wired wrong... It's designed for multiple applications. It should be wired in the normally Closed position (usually the outside 2 screw posts on the micro). Sounds like yours is wired for Normally OPEN instead.

As an alternate, on the PB-16 pot that comes on the Marathon cart, you can simply disconnect the secondary set of wires that goes to the F&R and coil/zip tie them out of the way..... All this will do is eliminate the half speed reverse functionality.

Okay - Just to clarify, cart was wired this way since I've had it and always ran good. Anyway, its seems that somehow through the course of the last couple of months, the roller on the microswitch got bent under. It still seemed to work though. I took it off and and straightened the roller. Put the whole thing back together and now the cart magically runs! Still don't understand, but who cares, it works. Thanks for the input!
