Does the solenoid click when you try to go?

The diode and resistor are in place to protect the system but they will not keep the system from working so you can continue to test without them.

Follow the solenoid activation circuit below - test for 36v+ at each location mentioned.

TXT Series solenoid activation
Power starts on the White wire on the 36+ of the battery pack.
Power travels to the charger receptacle, goes through a reed switch inside the receptacle and comes out on the red 12 gauge red wire.
The red wire travels back through the loom to the Forward and reverse switch where it attaches to a micro.
The other side of that micro has a blue wire attached that runs under the cart to the front and arrives at the keyswitch.
The keyswitch then transfers power to a green wire which returns to the area of the Forward and Reverse switch.
the power then goes through a 4 pin Molex connector and travels to the "pedal Box" (located under the floorboard of the car) where it goes through a micro and comes out on another red wire.
That red wire comes back up to the Controller/F&R area where it once again goes through the 4 pin molex connector and continues on to the small post of the solenoid.

it does run? the red wire at the charger port is for a safety interlock that has now been discontinued on newer ez-go carts. it is easy to bypass and it sounds like you did it. it should run between the f/r switch and the pos. terminal on the first battery. the black box you can see is the controller. in front of that is the forward/reverse switch. the its is hidden underneath the floor board. "what do i do now?" well you can lift it or lower it then paint it and add new tires and wheels. then you can upgrade the power system with a larger contrroller, at least 4ga. cables and maybe a more powerfull motor. the sky is the limit on these.

yes it runs . drove it down the strret. well what i did is i took the red wire coming off the charger plug and hooked it to the solenoid. the green light is on the controls until i pull the red wire off and the key switch is not working . so the cart will have power all the time, right how can i get the key to work. so that is why i asked what do i do now . i have plans on lifting it a lil and then painting it . i work for a paint supplier so i plan on painting it candy green and orange.

as i mentioned, the red wire should run between the first pos, batt. post, then to the left hand (drivers side) micro switch on the f/r switch. this way it is hot all the time. then when you shift into gear, power is sent to the key switch. from there to its, then to the solenoid. just follow scotty's steps one by one. here is his diagram for your set up. makes it easy to trace.
