Default Advice Needed For Upgrading Speed on Stock 2005 EZGO TXT

I recently aquired a stock 2005 EZGO TXT golf cart.

My wife and little girl love it and we have a blast just ridining in it through the neighborhood.

My wife and I agree that we wish we could some how get a little more power especially for going up hills.

Now this is a stock TXT. Does not have the PDS speed controller. I already checked and it has the lever under the seat for forward and reverse and there isnt a toggle switch for tow on the speed controller.

Is ther any upgrades i can do to get a little more power for climbing hills? I called a local golf cart shop here in my area and they told me i would need a total upgrade which includes the motor speed controller etc. Which he said would be over $1500.

Is this my only option? I was hoping to not have to spend that much money.

Thanks for helpinga noob out

You can do controller, new F/R switch and cables for under $600.00. Shop the site sponsors here, they have package deals. This should give you a noticable increase in torque. You can run the stock motor with a 400 AMP controller. You can also get your stock motor re-wound (www.plumquick.com) for less than half the cost of a new motor.

You have a series cart.

Speed is a little harder to get in a series cart. They are made more for torque than speed. It can be done and they are very durable at it but it takes a bit more doing than a sepex cart for speed. You will need to upgrade the controller, solenoid, Cables, and F&R. Then you will be ready for speed mods like any one or a combination of the things below:
Speed motor (higher RPM)
Taller gears and/or taller tires

A voltage increase would be a good place to upgrade. 30% more torque and speed. But you have to do the job complete or some part of the system will bottleneck the supply and generate damaging heat.

This means a controller/solenoid pkg. a F&R and cable upgrade, and a way to charge 48v.

It is worth it

Where are you located? I'd love to find somebody with a series cart that wants the PDS system close to me. I'd rather have the series setup for what I'm wanting to do and sounds like maybe the PDS would be a better fit for you. If you're close enough, we could swap setups if you're up for it.

Check out sponsor Plum Quick: http://www.plumquick.com/
For about $250 they can rebuild your motor and give you more speed and torque without any additional changes.
If you don't already have 4ga cables, they too will help. https://www.eastcoastcarts.com/catal...Carts/1251.htm
